There’s nothing quite like a long weekend getaway filled with sun, Southern charm, and a perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. Our trip to Hilton Head Island and Savannah blended coastal beauty with historic charm, delicious food, and unforgettable experiences. Here’s how we spent our four days soaking in everything these two destinations have to offer!
Day 1: Beachside Bliss on Hilton Head Island
We arrived on Hilton Head Island, ready to kick off our weekend in paradise. Our first stop? Harbour Town, where we grabbed lunch at the famous Salty Dog Cafe. With a front-row seat to the marina, we enjoyed fresh seafood and a refreshing cocktail before setting out to explore.

The afternoon was all about soaking up the sun. We headed to Coligny Beach, where we rented chairs from Tiki Hut and relaxed with our toes in the sand. The ocean breeze, live music, and laid-back beach vibes were the perfect way to unwind.

For dinner, we made our way to Skull Creek Boathouse, a waterfront gem known for its stunning sunset views. Between the seafood platters and the lively atmosphere, it was the ideal ending to our first day.

Day 2: A Change of Plans & Savannah’s Southern Charm
We started the morning with a delicious breakfast at Nectar, a cozy café known for its fresh juices and avocado toast. Unfortunately, our shark fishing trip was canceled, but we made the best of it by heading to Savannah a little earlier than planned.

After checking into The Studio Homes at Ellis Square, we wasted no time exploring the city. Our first stop was the picturesque Forsyth Park, where we admired the iconic fountain and Spanish moss-draped oak trees.
Next, we stopped for coffee at Collins Quarter, a local favorite with an Aussie-inspired menu. After fueling up, we wandered down Jones Street, often called the prettiest street in Savannah, and made our way to Chippewa Square, best known as the filming location for Forrest Gump’s famous bench scene.

One of the highlights of the day was our visit to the American Prohibition Museum, where we learned about the wild days of the 1920s and even enjoyed a cocktail at their speakeasy.

For dinner, we indulged in Southern classics at The Olde Pink House, an iconic restaurant housed in an 18th-century mansion. The meal was absolutely unforgettable, but we made sure to save room for dessert at Better Than Sex, where we ended the night with decadent sweets and creative cocktails.

Day 3: Exploring Savannah’s Hidden Gems
Our last full day in Savannah started at Pounce Cat Café, where we sipped coffee while playing with adorable rescue cats (a must for animal lovers!). We then made our way to City Market, strolling past art galleries, boutiques, and live music performances.
Lunch was at Tequila Town, where we enjoyed delicious tacos and margaritas before heading to Love Lock Bridge to leave behind a little token of our trip. A stop at River Street Sweets for their famous pralines was non-negotiable – the sweet, buttery treats were worth every bite!

As the sun set, we dined at Vic’s on the River, a historic spot with breathtaking views of the Savannah River. The elegant atmosphere and Lowcountry cuisine made for the perfect farewell dinner.

But the night wasn’t over yet! We took a cocktail class at 220 Congress Street, where we learned how to mix up classic Southern drinks. Our final stop was Alley Cat Speakeasy, a hidden gem with an impressive cocktail menu and a cool, vintage vibe.

Day 4: Heading Home, But Already Planning the Next Trip
After a whirlwind weekend filled with history, beaches, and incredible food, it was time to head home. As we packed up, we couldn’t help but talk about all the amazing moments from the trip—and start dreaming about our next visit!
